Good morning darlings! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I had quite the productive weekend and even got to squeeze in some babe date time with my best friend. Our babe dates typically include an obscene amount of decadent food with a splash of wine, but since she’s in prep mode for her next bikini (body building) competition, we kept it to shopping, protein bars, and a screening of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Fun fact: Beauty and the Beast was/is my favorite Disney movie. I’ve always resonated with Belle… something about being perceived as “odd” by her fellow peers, day-dreaming on the regular, and having a strong sense of self are so relatable.
Anyway, this weekend, I was also able to play around with different uses for this maca powder. “What is maca powder,” you ask? Well it’s been touted as a miracle food and promotes an energy/mood lift, increased libido, enhanced memory, balanced hormones, and a boosted immune system. I got my bag of maca powder from Whole Foods.
I decided to throw it into my almond butter smoothie, along with some chia seeds, flax seeds and fruit to really step up my smoothie game. Boy, oh boy, let me tell you, it was delish!
This Almond Butter Power Smoothie is at the top of my list because it has protein from the almond butter, natural sugars from the banana and mood boosters in the maca powder, plus the chia and flax help to regulate the digestive system and suppress appetite.
- 1 banana, frozen or fresh
- 1 cup unsweetnened almond milk
- 2 heaping tbsp all-natural almond butter
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 2 ice cubes
Toss all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Pour, drink and enjoy!
